John Broman, wanted by police on charges of escaping Beaver County Jail

Police are searching for a man who escaped from Beaver County Jail on Thursday morning.

John Broman, 41, of Beaver, escaped around 10:45 a.m. according to Hopewell Township Police. He was last seen heading south from the jail on foot.

Several law enforcement agencies are involved in the search.

Broman was not armed at the time of his escape but is believed to be dangerous.

The public is advised to stay away from him.

He is described as a white man with brown hair and brown eyes, with tattoos just below his neck and on both arms. He is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weights about 160 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a dark blue shirt, jeans and black shoes. Police believe he may also have acquired a camouflage coat after his escape.

Broman was charged by Hopewell Township police in October on charges of burglary, trespass and loitering, according to state court records.

He was out on bond when he was arrested again in November, this time by Chippewa Township police, on 17 charges, among them aggravated assault, resisting arrest, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, obstructing the administration of law, and recklessly endangering another person.

He posted bail again and was arrested a third time Wednesday by Brighton Township police on charges of recklessly burning or exploding, possession of a controlled substance and disorderly conduct.

He was arraigned Thursday morning before District Judge John Armour.

His bail was set at $1 million and he was sent to Beaver County Jail, which he escaped later that morning.

Anyone seeing Broman is asked to call 911 or their local police.
