A McMurray man and a Venetia woman died when their vehicles collided Thursday afternoon in Washington County.
The motorists were dead at the scene on Route 837 in Carroll Township, according to a report from the county coroner’s office.
That office has identified one of the crash victims as Michael Bove, 48, of McMurray, who was driving north when his vehicle collided with another that was headed south.
The county coroner identified the second victim as Linda Blanker, 81, of Venetia.
A ruling on the cause and manner of the deaths is pending autopsies and further investigation.
The crash occurred at about 1:15 p.m. near Donora Road. It shut down traffic for several hours on a section of the road stretching to the Donora-Monessen Bridge.
Traffic was flowing again by 6 p.m.
Carroll Township Police Chief Paul Brand told TribLive news partner WTAE that one vehicle ended up in the opposing lane of traffic and there was an apparent speed issue with the other vehicle.
The vehicles involved were an SUV and a pickup truck, according to a Washington County 911 supervisor. They said there were no other motorists transported by ambulance.
A state police crash reconstruction team assisted at the scene.
