An East Pittsburgh man was arrested Friday after police said he fled from a head-on crash in Plum.

The crash happened just before 10 a.m. along New Texas Road.

Police said a car driven by Sean Tally, 20, crashed into an oncoming vehicle containing an Upper Burrell couple, ages 50 and 48. The couple’s vehicle partially flipped and trapped them inside, according to police. They were taken to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, but the nature or severity of their injuries was not known, according to police.

Tally and a passenger in his car, identified as Tyrone McClain Jr., 21, of Greensburg, fled the scene after the crash, police said.

They abandoned the car during a pursuit, but were apprehended with the help of Penn Hills police, a police dog and Plum EMS staff, Plum police said.

Plum police said they suspected Tally of driving while intoxicated and he underwent a blood test at a hospital. His passenger, McClain, also was taken to a hospital to be evaluated, police said.

Tally was scheduled to be arraigned at Pittsburgh Night Court.
