While fears over the coronavirus contributed to another drop in the national average price of gasoline, prices in the Pittsburgh area remained unchanged, according to the price-tracking service GasBuddy.

Coronavirus fears have put a choke-hold on oil prices, leading to the fourth straight weekly decline in the national average, said Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy.

“With continued worries of economic slowdown due to the spread of coronavirus, I don’t think the impact to oil is done yet, and for now, motorists are poised to see another week of falling gas prices,” DeHaan said.

In the Pittsburgh area, the average gas price is unchanged from last week at $2.68 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 731 stations. That’s 17.9 cents per gallon less than a month ago, but 18.6 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.

The national average fell 3.5 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.42. That’s 16.7 cents per gallon less than a month ago, but 13.9 cents per gallon higher than a year ago, according to GasBuddy.

Neighboring areas and their current gas prices:

• Akron — $2.21, down 15.0 cents per gallon from last week.

• Cleveland — $2.35, down 6.9 cents per gallon from last week.

• West Virginia — $2.40, down 2.2 cents per gallon from last week.
