Pittsburgh gas prices edge lower despite Iran, supply concerns
Gas prices fell slightly in the Pittsburgh region but rose nationally for the second straight week as oil prices pushed higher on concerns about Iran, OPEC extending production cuts and recent drawdowns in U.S. oil inventories, according to an industry analyst.
“Look for another week of gradual increases in gasoline prices,” said Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis at the price-tracking website GasBuddy.com.
Gas prices in the Pittsburgh region dropped 1.1 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.95, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 731 stations. That’s 0.5 cents per gallon lower than a month ago, and 16.5 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.
Prices in the Pittsburgh region ranged from a low of $2.69 up to $3.19. Statewide, the lowest price was $2.55 and the highest was $3.20, according to the website.
The national average is up 2.3 cents per gallon from last week, averaging $2.75. That’s 0.3 cents per gallon less than a month ago and 10.9 cents per gallon less than a year ago.
