A newborn baby, 1-year-old child and two adults are in serious condition following a hit-and-run crash involving an Amish buggy in Sparta Township, Crawford County, state police said.

The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. Sunday along Canadohta Lake Road near Route 89.

According to police, a black 2018 Chevrolet Traverse rear-ended the buggy that was traveling west along Canadohta Lake Road. The driver of the SUV fled the scene, police said.

A 24-year-old man was the driver of the buggy. A 23-year-old woman who was a passenger was taken to UPMC Hamot in Erie. Both children, who were also passengers in the buggy, were taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital.

Anyone with information on the incident can contact state police in Corry.
