Morning showers will give way to sunny afternoon, another warm day

After some scattered morning showers, it will be another warm and sunny day in the Pittsburgh area, according to the National Weather Service.

The rain is fairly light and diminishing as it moves east, meteorologist Bill Modzelewski said. It will be out of the Pittsburgh area by 10 or 11 a.m. at the latest.

Skies will clear for some sunshine in the afternoon, and the temperature is expected to reach a high of 79, he said.

“After we get the rain out of here this morning, it should be a pretty nice day,” Modzelewski said.

After a dry afternoon, isolated rain could return after 8 or 9 p.m. and there could be some scattered showers after midnight.

Wednesday was the warmest day of the year so far, with a high of 85, Modzelewski said. The record high of 93 set in 1942 still stands.

It won’t be any warmer over the next seven days or so. Highs are expected to be in the mid-70s on Friday, the upper 60s over the weekend and rise back into the 70s next week.
