Medics answer 37 calls during Ed Sheeran’s Pittsburgh concert
Two people suffering cardiac arrest were among just over three dozen medical calls authorities answered during Ed Sheeran’s concert Saturday at Acrisure Stadium.
According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, medical personnel working during the concert received 37 calls for service, from which 17 were taken to hospitals for heat-related issues, falls, a seizure and two cardiac arrests.
A worker tearing down the setup inside the stadium went into cardiac arrest and was taken to Allegheny General Hospital.
A paramedic leaving the stadium went into cardiac arrest on Art Rooney Avenue. That person was resuscitated after receiving several shocks and also taken to Allegheny General.
Driver flees Strip District crash
A man was taken to a hospital after what Pittsburgh police described as a serious single-vehicle crash in the Strip District late Saturday night.
Police said officers, firefighters and medics responded around 11:30 p.m. for a vehicle crashing into a pole at 16th Street and Liberty Avenue.
The driver fled the area before first responders got there, police said. A passenger was trapped inside.
Medics stabilized the man while he was still trapped inside the vehicle. He was removed and taken to a hospital in stable condition.
Police are investigating.
Butler man flown to hospital after Jeep rollover
A Butler man was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital after a crash Sunday in Connoquenessing, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Police said Robert S. Isaacs Jr., 57, was traveling west on Stevenson Road near Kriess Road in a 1978 Jeep Wrangler.
Police said he was traveling too fast for conditions and lost control on the wet roadway. His Jeep went off the road and hit an embankment, causing it to roll over, police said.
Isaacs was taken from the scene by ambulance and taken by helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital.
No information on the nature or extent of his injuries was provided.
