Morning Roundup: Cop, 2 teens in stolen car hurt in crash along East Busway

3 people injured in crash on East Busway

Three people were injured after a stolen vehicle crashed into a police cruiser along the East Busway on Tuesday night, according to authorities.

Two teenagers were traveling inbound on the dedicated bus lanes shortly after 9:30 p.m. when Port Authority police tried to stop the vehicle, according to Pittsburgh Regional Transit Authority spokesman Adam Brandolph.

Port Authority police pursued the vehicle after it sped off toward Downtown, but stopped the chase for safety reasons.

The fleeing vehicle collided with a different Port Authority police cruiser traveling in the opposite direction near the federal courthouse, Brandolph said.

The two teens were taken to Allegheny General Hospital in the North Side and admitted in stable condition. The officer was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital in Uptown, where he was treated and released.


Cranberry police issue warning about scam calls

Police in Cranberry are warning residents about a scammer posing as township police to steal money.

Investigators said someone is calling residents and requesting that they send money to pay a bond to avoid serving prison time.

Police said the calls may also involve other ruses or threats to get people to send money.

Anyone who receives such a call is asked to call the Cranberry Township Police Department at 724-776-5180.


Missing 11-year-old girl found safe

An 11-year-old Hill District girl being sought by Pittsburgh Police detectives after she went missing has been found safe, according to authorities.

Teaja Parrotte was reported missing on June 27 from her mother’s home.
