Pitt student governments to host town hall on safety
University of Pittsburgh’s student governments are hosting an in-person student town hall on campus safety from 6-8 p.m. Monday in the WPU Assembly Room.
About 100 Pitt students held a “die-in” protest on Friday to protest the university’s delay in notifying the campus community about active shooter threats reported at Hillman Library on April 10.
The incident at Hillman was determined by police to be a hoax.
Students are invited to connect with representatives from the university’s counseling center, Pitt police, facilities management and other areas to discuss solutions to campus safety concerns.
Questions may be submitted in advance until 10 a.m. Monday here.

Sweater weather returns, wintry mix expected
After weekend temperatures in the upper 70s, Monday’s high is expected to hover around 50 degrees, according to Meteorologist Shannon Hefferan of Pittsburgh National Weather Service.
“It will be breezy with 25 mph to 35 mph winds for most of the day. The peak time frame for higher wind gusts will be after 2 p.m.,” Hefferan said.
The low Monday night is expected to be around 35, right above the freezing threshold.
“They won’t climb because we have some colder air moving in from the west, associated with a low-pressure system over Wisconsin,” Hefferan said.
A chance of snow showers and wintry mix conditions is in the forecast for Tuesday morning for areas along Interstate 80 and north of Pittsburgh.
“We will rebound with warmer daytime temperatures in the upper 60s later in the week,” Hefferan said.
Thursday’s high is expected to reach near 80.
