Kennywood, Idlewild host hiring fairs for Halloween-themed events
Ghouls, goblins and other spooky species — it’s your time to shine.
Kennywood and Idlewild are hiring more than 350 new “creatures of the night” to bring — er, life — to the parks’ Halloween-themed events.
Phantom Fall Fest at Kennywood and HallowBOO at Idlewild are scheduled to open Sept. 24.
“Kennywood and Idlewild will give guests the largest and longest Halloween seasons ever in 2022,” said Tasha Pokrzywa, regional communications manager.
Public hiring events are scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Idlewild and from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 31 at Kennywood’s Parkside Cafe.
Applications are also available online.
Positions are open for people age 14 and older. Hours are flexible and fit well around school, jobs and other commitments, Pokrzywa said.
Jobs include scare actors to bring the frights to life, along with other positions throughout the parks.
“Few jobs are as fun as being paid to scare people,” Kennywood Human Resources Director Joe Barron said.
He touted the unique environment as a benefit of the season job, along with the ability to deliver smiles and screams to countless guests.
Phantom Fall Fest and HallowBOO offer attractions without gruesome or ghastly characters too.
Family friendly fun and favorite coasters will be open during the days at Kennywood, giving way to extreme screams at night with haunted houses and scare zones.
At Idlewild, princesses and pirates take center stage with the popular trick-or-treating through Story Book Forest, mazes and a not-so-scary ghoulish dance party. There are photo opportunities with Princess Lily and Daniel Tiger and other monstrous fun for younger children.
Passholders can get a sneak peek of Phantom Fall Fest on Sept. 23. The event runs select nights through Oct. 30.
HallowBOO is open weekends through Oct. 30.
