Kids bored? Can’t go to the museum?

Why not help send a message of music to the world?

The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh is inviting housebound children and families to snap a few photos, record their version of the classic “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” from “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” and email them to the museum for a “Neighborhood Singalong,” to share with the world.

Families can contribute their own rendition of the song in any format, from singing to strumming a guitar, plunking on a piano, shaking a rattle or doing some living room dance moves.

The museum has posted the audio soundtrack to the song and the sing-along lyrics on YouTube to help families get started. They’ll also be posting do-it-yourself videos on how to make your own instruments to accompany songsters.

Just record a video of your child or family’s rendition of “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” or take a few photos of your music making and submit them by May 17 in one of these ways:

• Email to hi@pittsburghkids.org

• Via Facebook. Go to Facebook.com/pittsburghkids and use Facebook Messenger

• Add a comment on any challenge post via Instagram and Twitter. Look for the tag @pghkids.

The compilation video will be posted on its Museum at Home web page and its social media channels on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Submissions also will be displayed in the Museum when it reopens.
