Inmate at federal prison ordered to serve 13 additional months for possessing opioid
A 34-year-old man already serving a five-year term in a federal prison in Cambria County for distributing heroin in Virginia pleaded guilty Tuesday to possession of a prohibited object in prison and was sentenced to serve 13 additional months.
Dilpreet Singh of Fairfax, Va., pleaded guilty to an indictment that he was in possession of a quantity of the opioid painkiller buprenorphine on July 14, 2017, before U.S. District Judge Kim R. Gibson in Johnstown, according to U.S. Attorney Scott Brady.
In addition to the increased prison sentence, Gibson also ordered Singh to serve three years’ supervised release after completion of his incarceration at FCI-Loretto.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie L. Haines prosecuted the case.
The FBI and the FCI-Loretto’s investigative staff conducted the investigation.
