Gas prices fall for 2nd straight week

Gas prices are down for a second straight week in Pittsburgh and across the nation.

“Concerns still abound over the lack of a China-U.S. trade deal … but by and large, motorists can expect to see little organized movement at the pump in the week ahead, and barring any new situations, we should be able to cruise into the fall months without a major hiccup in prices,” said Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis at the price-tracking website GasBuddy.com.

In the Pittsburgh region, gas prices came down 1.9 cents per gallon in the past week to an average of $2.95, according to GasBuddy. That’s 0.4 cents per gallon lower than a month ago, and 13 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

The Pittsburgh region’s prices ranged from $2.75 up to $3.29.

The national average price of gasoline has fallen 3 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.72. That’s 1.8 cents per gallon more than a month ago, but 12.1 cents per gallon less than a year ago.

The cheapest price in the entire country stands at $1.97 per gallon, while the most expensive is $5.09.
