A man linked to the investigation of an Aliquippa teacher’s unsolved homicide is charged with killing a man Friday in that Beaver County city.
State police allege Sheldon Devant Jeter Jr., 22, of Aliquippa, is responsible for the shooting death of Tyric Pugh, 30, also of Aliquippa.
State police were asked to lead the investigation by Aliquippa police, who were dispatched about 11:40 p.m. Friday to check on a man found lying in the road on Kiehl Street. The man, later identified as Pugh, was found to have multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead.
Police said they charged Jeter with criminal homicide in Pugh’s death after reviewing surveillance video, completing interviews and serving a search warrant at an Aliquippa residence.
Jeter was arraigned Sunday and placed in the Beaver County Jail without bail. He faces a June 1 preliminary hearing.
Jeter was the subject of police questioning and search warrants in connection with the killing of former elementary teacher Rachael DelTondo, 33, who was gunned down in her family’s driveway on Mother’s Day 2018. Jeter has not been charged in that case.
DelTondo was suspended from her job as a teacher at the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School after someone leaked a police report about an alleged 2016 incident in which she was found alone in a parked car with Jeter, then 17, according to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV.
DelTondo told police she and Jeter had just been talking and charges were never filed, WPXI reported.
