A tractor-trailer driver was flown to a hospital after his rig overturned on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Somerset County early Monday, according to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and state police.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which happened around 12:40 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 70/76 in Allegheny Township, a state police representative said. No information on the cause was available.
A turnpike spokesman said the driver suffered minor injuries.
The truck was hauling tomatoes, some of which spilled onto the highway.
Eastbound traffic was detoured at the Somerset exit and redirected to the Bedford interchange until about 3:40 a.m. while the crash was cleaned up.
One lane remained closed as of about 5:30 a.m. while crews continued to repair the guiderails and finish the cleanup.
