Drug possession charges filed against Uniontown man in threats case

A Fayette County man who allegedly threatened his girlfriend and her five children with a handgun last month has also been accused by state police of possessing crack cocaine and marijuana.

Rasheme L. Jones, 38, of Uniontown, is charged with multiple counts of manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as five counts of child endangerment in connection with the March 2 incident.

He was arraigned Friday before District Judge Michael Metros and ordered held in the county prison after failing to post $150,000 bail pending a preliminary hearing April 24.

State police in Uniontown said troopers were summoned to Jones’ girlfriend’s apartment on the 100 block of Morgatown Street at 6:47 a.m. March 2 after receiving a call that Jones was actively threatening his girlfriend and her five children with a firearm.

When police arrived, Trooper Ronald Harris said they found the children unharmed. Police said Jones was taken into custody outside the residence as he attempted to flee. Harris said in court documents police discovered Jones was in possession of crack cocaine and marijuana.

Troopers returned to the residence later with a search warrant and seized multiple prescription pills, two electronic digital scales with cocaine residue on them, three cellular telephones, marijuana smoking pipes, a glass bong, numerous plastic baggies and a “Night Owl” surveillance system.
