Cars, tunes, yard sales fill September weekend in Saltsburg
Classic wheels, live music and second-hand treasures will abound in Saltsburg during the second full weekend in September.
The 13th annual Historic Saltsburg Car Cruise will kick things off from 5 to 9 p.m. Sept. 13 in the town’s Canal Park.
On Sept. 14, town-wide yard sales will beckon those in search of bargains from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. while the Canal Park will switch gears, playing host to a music festival from 1 to 9 p.m.
Presented by the town’s Heritage Holiday Committee, the cruise is open to classic and antique cars and trucks as well as hot rods. Trophies, door prizes, live music and food will be featured, and dash plaques will be available for the first 75 pre-registered vehicles.
Spectators are welcome to check out the cars. The Saltsburg American Legion will accept donations to benefit U.S. troops.
There is a $5 registration fee for Saltsburg residents who want to participate in the yard sales. Beginning at 8 a.m. the day of the sale, those looking to browse can stop at the Saltsburg Methodist Church, 813 Salt St., to pick up a map of participating sites.
Seven bands will perform, rain or shine, for all ages during the music festival, presented by Saltsburg Borough and GLM Hope Productions. The event will benefit the West Penn Trail hiking and biking path, which passes through Saltsburg.
Parking and admission are free for the festival, which will include vendors, crafters and activities and attractions for kids.
Scheduled musical acts include: acoustic artists Jimi Burger at 1 p.m., and Adam Fitz at 2 p.m.; the Same Moon band, performing a mix of pop and rock music from across the decades, 3 p.m.; Jasper Onyx rock trio, 4:15 p.m.; Crawdad Joe, with a blend of classic, southern, blues, alternative and funk rock, 5:30 p.m.; Post Traumatik, playing rock and roll, 6:45 p.m; Black Ridge, with original tunes combining rock, funk and psychedelic music, 8 p.m.
Flow N’at will be featured in an evening fire performance.
Food trucks will be available. Noble Stein Brewing Company will sell craft beer to those who are 21 or older and have a valid ID and wristband.
