A Scottdale, Ariz., man was sentenced after fraudulently selling prescription drugs across the country, including Western Pennsylvania, officials said.

Keith Komar, 62, was sentenced for illegally importing and misbranding pharmacy drugs and mail fraud after he advertised the sale of various drugs online, making the sale appear legitimate and safe, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady.

Officials said the drugs were sold without a prescription or a doctor’s consent, did not contain necessary warnings and were not manufactured in facilities approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

After purchase, Komar directed some of the drugs be mailed through the U.S. Postal Service directly from India, according to officials.

Komar was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison and two years supervised release.
