Five people, including an infant, died in a three-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon in Fayette County, according to a Pennsylvania State Police report.

The driver, Harold Nibert, 55, and passengers Bradley Thivener, 47; Krystal May, 36; Amanda Dawson, 33; and her 7-month-old son, Kullen Dawson, died at the scene, according to Fayette County Coroner Bob Baker. The vehicle was traveling eastbound on Route 40 near New Meadow Run Drive when it crossed the double yellow line and struck a tractor-trailer head-on.

All of the victims were from Delaware, Ohio, Baker said.

Emergency crews responded about 1:45 p.m. to the crash at the intersection of Route 40 and New Meadow Run Drive in Wharton Township.

Another passenger vehicle also was involved in the crash, Trooper Kalee Barnhart told TribLive news partner WTAE. Two people suffered minor injuries in the other vehicle, and the commercial vehicle driver was not injured. State police are investigating the cause of the crash, and the Fayette County Coroner’s Office and Fayette County District Attorney’s Office are assisting with the investigation.

Part of Route 40 was closed for more than five hours in both directions between the intersection of Route 381 and the intersection of Dinner Bell 5 Forks Road and Dinner Bell Ohiopyle Road, PennDOT said.
