1 of 2 suspects in Butler purse theft arrested in Florida
One of two men charged with robbing a Butler County woman in June was apprehended in Florida, according to state police.
State police allege that Marcos Roman, 38, currently of Butler and Ramon Enrique Acevedo-Carrasquillo, 34, of Ocala, Fla. followed a woman home from a store and forcibly took her purse.
The incident happened in Center Township on June 7.
State police charged both men with robbery, criminal conspiracy, theft and receiving stolen property, according to court records.
Roman is being held in the Butler County Jail on $75,000 bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Tuesday before Judge Lewis E. Stoughton.
The Ocala Police Department arrested Acevedo-Carrasquillo July 20 on two unrelated cases in Marion County, Fla., where he is awaiting extradition.
“The information regarding his wanted status was known as soon as the officers ran his name,” said Sgt. Paul Bloom, spokesman for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. “That type of information is shared nationally among law enforcement agencies.
“We do not, however, disclose details of when a person will be extradited for security reasons.”
