Morgantown police have arrested two men in connection to a shootout stemming from a robbery early Saturday morning near the campus of West Virginia University.

Police said the shooting occurred around 1:15 a.m. at an apartment on College Avenue, according to Morgantown’s CBS-affiliate WDTV.

Edward Kolleh, 29, and Ethan Horseman, 20, who live in the apartment, reportedly told police two men tried to steal their marijuana, which led to a shootout.

Investigators, however, told the station Kolleh and Horseman lured two people to the apartment to buy marijuana, but actually intended to rob them.

Police said Kolleh hid in a closet with a shotgun while the two would-be weed buyers sat facing away from the closet door. Horsemen reportedly drew a handgun and used a code word that prompted Kolleh to come out of the closet, police Chief Ed Preston said.

A fight followed and one man was shot in the hip, the chief said.

The victims were able to escape and retreated to a hospital. Police hadn’t released the condition of the gunshot victim.

Kolleh is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery; Horseman faces charges of conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery and unlawful wounding, WDTV reported.

This is the second shooting in as many days near the campus.

On Friday, a WVU student was killed at a university-run apartment complex. The victim was identified as sophomore Eric James Smith of New Jersey.

Two suspects were arrested in connection with that shooting.
