A Pittsburgh woman is accused of dressing as a FedEx worker and stealing packages from a Mt. Washington home.

Police charged Laura Woester, 50, with theft by unlawful taking after they say she took two packages from a home on Beam Way last week.

According to a criminal complaint, officers responded to the home on Saturday. They met with a man who said two packages totaling $220 were taken from his front porch around noon last Thursday.

The man provided police with surveillance footage that showed a woman, identified as Woester, wearing a black mask under her chin as well as a black and purple FedEx shirt walking up to the porch, the complaint reads. Once she notices the surveillance camera, Woester goes back to her car and grabs a camouflage jacket and different colored mask.

She is then seen returning to the porch and taking the packages, officials said.

In an emailed statement, FedEx said they “have not found any record of this individual working for or providing services for FedEx.”

“Drivers making deliveries for FedEx wear company-issued photo ID badges at all times and only pick up shipments upon request by the customer,” the statement reads. “Any customer who suspects fraudulent activity should contact police. We cooperate with authorities in these investigations.”

A court date for Woester has not yet been set.
