A Beaver County man was arrested late Friday after state police said he assaulted an ex-girlfriend at Rivers Casino and threatened to kill another person.

Police said Edward Thomas Smorey, 53, of Hookstown, approached the 57-year-old woman around 10:40 p.m. Friday at the casino’s Drum Bar. Police said he pulled her hair and yelled at her.

After a bystander intervened, police said Smorey grabbed them and threatened to kill them.

Smorey faces charges of aggravated assault, making terroristic threats, harassment, disorderly conduct and fleeing and eluding.

He was taken to Allegheny County Jail, where he was unable to post bail, court records show. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for later this month.
