The man charged with attacking two Jewish students from the University of Pittsburgh with a glass bottle also threw one at two people the day before, according to police.

Carnegie Mellon University Police charged Jarrett Buba, 52, of the city’s West Oakland neighborhood with aggravated assault, reckless endangering, simple assault and harassment.

University police said video surveillance on Aug. 29 showed a man fitting Buba’s description throwing a glass bottle at two people around 3:20 p.m. near the intersection of South Craig and Winthrop streets, according to court papers.

Footage showed the man making eye contact before rushing at them and throwing the bottle, missing and hitting a parked car on South Craig Street, police said.

The following day, Buba was arrested by University of Pittsburgh Police after they say he attacked and injured two people with a glass bottle in the same manner.

Carnegie Mellon officers obtained Buba’s arrest photo and were able to identify him as the man in the Aug. 29 video footage, according to a criminal complaint. He was charged Thursday. A preliminary hearing date has not been set.

Buba is in the Allegeny County Jail, also awaiting a Sept. 12 preliminary hearing on charges stemming from the initial incident.

An attorney for Buba was not listed in court records.
