A 31-year-old man was arrested Monday in connection to the 2020 death of his 7-week-old son in Pittsburgh’s Greenfield neighborhood, officials said.

Cory Neidert of Pittsburgh is charged with criminal homicide, endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person.

On Feb. 1, 2020, police responded to a report of an unresponsive baby at a home in the 900 block of Delevan Street, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswoman Amanda Mueller. The caller, identified as Neidert, told dispatcher the baby had fallen down the stairs.

The baby was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries.

His death was ruled a homicide.

Neidert is being held at the Allegheny County Jail. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing, court documents show.
