A 17-year-old boy faces felony charges after police say he fired gunshots at police officers in Stowe Township on Tuesday afternoon.
Delvonte Woodson, 17, of Stowe Township, faces charges including criminal attempted homicide, assault of a police officer, and illegal possession of a firearm, Allegheny County Police said Tuesday night in a Facebook post.
Woodson was taken into custody without incident and is being charged as an adult, police said. He will be taken to the Allegheny County Jail pending preliminary arraignment.
Police said that at 2:07 p.m. Tuesday, two officers with the McKees Rocks and Stowe Township police departments were conducting an undercover investigation in the 700 block of Woodward Avenue when Woodson began shooting at them.
A McKees Rocks officer returned fire, police said.
No one was injured and Woodson fled the scene.
It’s unclear if the officers and Woodson knew each other. The officers were not identified.
Police spokesman Jim Madalinsky did not reveal any details about the undercover investigation.
Woodward Avenue in Stowe was closed between Dohrman and Seventh streets for several hours after the incident. Residents were told to avoid the area.
County police launched the investigation because of the officers’ involvement.
