Man dead after Swissvale shooting; suspect also shot during incident
A Carrick man has been charged with criminal homicide in connection with a fatal shooting in Swissvale early Friday morning, the Allegheny County Police said.
Bryan Perkins-Jiles, 36, was charged by Allegheny County Police with criminal homicide, criminal attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, one count of person not to possess a firearm and one count of illegal possession of a firearm. A preliminary hearing for Perkins-Jiles had not been set as of Sunday.
Having been originally charged with two counts of criminal attempted homicide, one of those charges against Perkins-Jiles was upgraded to criminal homicide when Jamie J. Jones, 31, of Pittsburgh, died as a result of being shot in the 2100 block of Noble Street around 2 a.m. Friday.
He died Friday night at UPMC Mercy hospital in Pittsburgh, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner said.
Detectives from the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit allege that Perkins-Jiles shot the two victims. The other victim in the shooting has not been identified.
Perkins-Jiles, who also was shot, drove himself to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.
