Plum School District’s 2024 commencement ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. May 29 at the athletic stadium at Plum High School.

The district has 309 graduates this year. The outstanding senior award recipients are Isabella Surace and Austin J. Kim.

Patrick Baughman became high school principal in October. He called the class a “unified group” that has been supportive of each other and welcoming to the new administrators, such as himself, who have started during their senior year.

“It’s a strong academic class. It’s a strong athletic class. It’s a very strong performing arts class,” Baughman said. “They are all really nice kids that have been supportive of each other. They really have a love for their community.”

In case of inclement weather, the district has two rain dates before the ceremony would be moved indoors.

The rain dates are also at 7 p.m. May 30 and 31 at the athletic stadium. For the outdoor ceremony, each student is given eight tickets.

If the weather is again inclement on May 31, a ceremony would be held inside the high school gymnasium that day. For an indoor ceremony, students will be limited to two tickets for the gym and two for the auditorium, which is used for overflow seating.

Everyone is hopeful the rain dates won’t be needed, Baughman said.

“We’re just hoping for a beautiful day,” he said.
