Above, a group of mascots poses for a photo before their snowtubing races last January at Boyce Park, which straddles Plum and Monroeville. The ski and snow tubing slopes will open for the season on Dec. 19,2020.

Just days following a 9-inch snowfall, the Boyce Park ski slopes and snow tubing area will open for the season on 10 a.m. Saturday.

Restrictions will be in place to comply with Pennsylvania’s temporary covid-19 protection measures.

Only 50 skiers and 50 snow tubers will be permitted during each session.

Ski-lift tickets are $32 for county residents and $40 for non-residents; equipment rental is included in the price.

Snow tubing tickets are $17 for county residents and $21 for non-residents. Lift tickets and snow tubing tickets must be purchased online in advance.

Among the restrictions in place:

• Face coverings are required at all times.

• The lodge is closed, including concessions and indoor restrooms; food and drink is prohibited. Portable toilets, lockers and benches are provided outside.

• No season passes will be sold.

Hours will be as follows:

• Ski slopes: 2:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. and 6:30-9:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

• Snow tubing: 4-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Fridays; 10 a.m. to noon, 1-3 p.m., 4-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

For holiday hours between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day, call 724-733-4656 during normal operating hours.
