Oblock Junior High School in the Plum School District will move to remote learning on Monday and will remain closed for two weeks after two employees tested positive for the coronavirus this weekend.

District officials also announced Sunday that another staffer at Plum Senior High School has tested positive for the virus.

Contract tracing identified three students and nine staff members at Oblock and another nine students and three employees at the high school as having close contact with those found to be infected and will quarantine for 14 days under Allegheny County Health Department Guidelines, officials said.

District personnel will clean and disinfect impacted areas at the schools.

The new cases came after the district disclosed Friday that a high school student had been diagnosed with covid-19. Two district staffers had previously tested positive for the virus earlier in October.

The district is working under a hybrid model, meaning students are split into two groups with each attending in-person classes two days a week and online learning the rest of the week. Families also have a full-time virtual learning option.

Remote learning at the Oblock Junior High School will continue through Nov. 6, with students now scheduled to return to the classroom on Nov. 9.
