In brief: Plum council fills several positions on boards, commissions
Council made various appointments to boards and commissions at this month’s voting meeting.
Tom Tevis and Joseph Dykta Jr. were named to the Civil Service Commission for six-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2026.
Laura Mason and Mark Kenny were appointed to the library board for three-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2023.
Elizabeth Pekny was appointed to the library board for a two-year term.
Jay Adams and Jim Stecik were named to the municipal authority board for five-year terms.
Greg Magnus and David Seitz were appointed to the planning commission for four-year terms.
Dan Laird was appointed to the zoning hearing board for a five-year term, and Paul Freese was appointed to the vacancy board for a one-year term.

Plum Community Library is open for curbside pickup from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.

Plum alum success
Plum High School graduate Melissa Reynolds won the 2020 Kohl’s Sophomore Career Expo.
The expo is designed for undergraduates considering a career in retail. Reynolds is a sophomore at Kent State University.
Reynolds created the “Redefining Nude Collection” by Kohl’s, which strives to redefine the historical norm of the nude shade, according to a post on the university’s website.
The career expo was virtual due to the covid pandemic.
Task force to meet
Plum’s Storm Water Task Force is expected to meet Jan. 21 to discuss future projects and other issues.
Task force meetings are closed to the public. Its minutes are posted on the borough’s website, plumboro.com.
Committee to meet
The Plum Republican Committee will meet at 7 p.m. on Jan. 28 at the Plum Senior Center, 499 Center-New Texas Road.
The guest speaker will be former Oakmont councilwoman and newly elected state Rep. Carrie Lewis DelRosso.

State rep assigned to committees
Former Oakmont councilwoman and newly elected state Rep. Carrie Lewis DelRosso, R-Allegheny/Westmoreland, was assigned to four standing House committees for the 2021-22 legislative session.
They are aging and older adult services, gaming oversight, human services and urban affairs. The committees provide legislative oversight and help shape the language in bills that fall under their areas of responsibility.
