Pittsburgh's 'The Jungle' basketball court has shot at full renovation in online contest
A basketball court nicknamed “The Jungle” in the North Side is currently in the running with three other courts to receive a full renovation.
Every Court Has A Story hosted the voter-based competition on its website. Video previews of the four courts — one each in Pittsburgh and Kansas, with two in New York — show the layout and damage to the courts as well as a narrative story championing each individual court.
As of 1 p.m. Tuesday, the Pittsburgh court lead with 47.74%. Voting on the Every Court Has A Story page ends at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.
The Jungle’s jazz-themed submission, “A Northside Solo” was produced by brothers Cole and Clay McCloskey under the Hounds USA creative agency.

Clay McCloskey made a post about the project on Instagram, explaining why the video came about.
“‘A Northside Solo’ was an idea constructed to renovate a court that means a lot to so many of us from PG(H),” Clay McCloskey wrote. ‘The Jungle’ has always been a lively court with tournaments/pickup games & neighborhood kids playing. It’s seen better days, but we have an opportunity to make it new again!”
The video opens with a montage of Pittsburgh native and Estonian basketball player H’enri Wade-Chatman getting to the North Side court and preparing to practice. A narrator draws ties between the history of basketball in Pittsburgh and the area’s cultural nuances in community and music.
