Vehicle, cash stolen in 2 robberies on same night at Bloomfield, Shadyside businesses
Pittsburgh police are investigating whether there is a connection between two armed robberies that occurred shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday in the city’s adjacent Bloomfield and Shadyside neighborhoods.
In the first robbery, in the 4700 block of Baum Boulevard, a man forced the staff at Mercedes-Benz of Pittsburgh into the back of the dealership at gunpoint and took five sets of car keys.
A vehicle the man stole from the lot later was recovered in Wilkinsburg, according to a Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswoman.
A robbery also took place at Penn Station East Coast Subs, in the 4800 block of Centre Avenue. There, a man threatened the staff with a gun and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, the spokeswoman said.
No one was injured in either of the holdups.
The city’s Mobile Crime Unit processed evidence at both scenes. Violent Crime Unit detectives were reviewing available video images.
Additional information wasn’t immediately available.
