A man surrendered to authorities without incident after barricading himself and his family inside a Mt. Washington residence Wednesday evening, according to a Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesperson.
City police responded shortly before 5:30 p.m. for a reported domestic dispute between the man and a woman in the home in the 600 block of Curtis Street. The man allegedly was threatening the woman with a gun, the spokesperson said.
A SWAT team and negotiators were summoned when the man barricaded himself inside the home with the couple’s two young children.
After more than two hours of repeated attempts to contact him, police spoke with the man by phone and convinced him to come out. He surrendered, according to the spokesperson.
The children were unharmed and were evaluated at the scene by tactical paramedics.
Authorities didn’t reveal the man’s identity but said charges are expected.
