A Pittsburgh man has been sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison for his involvement in a heroin trafficking ring, federal officials announced Tuesday.
David Joyner, 26, was convicted of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute heroin.
US District Judge William S. Stickman IV sentenced him to 46 months in prison followed by six years of supervised release.
Officials said Joyner conspired to distribute heroin from June 2019 through December 2019.
The FBI began investigating a heroin trafficking organization operating throughout the greater Pittsburgh area that year.
Officials said Joyner was a member of that organization.
The FBI conducted a wiretap investigationthat July and August , and intercepted communications between Joyner and another person about acquiring quantities of heroin, prices of heroin, and the purity of the heroin.
Officials said Joyner was seen meeting with another person to conduct heroin transactions.
Allegheny County Police, the Office of the Attorney General, Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, state police and officers from North Versailles, Munhall and Stowe were also involved in the investigation.
