Pittsburgh man charged with homicide in connection with January slaying in Elliot
A Pittsburgh man is facing homicide charges in connection with a fatal shooting last month in the city’s Elliot neighborhood.
Public Safety spokeswoman Amanda Mueller announced the arrest of Le’Juane Powell, 29, on Tuesday.
He is charged with criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and someone who is not to possess a gun.
The charges stem from the killing of Kenneth A. Lennex, 34, of Dravosburg.
Police responded around 9:30 a.m. Jan. 26 to reports of a man found dead in a wooded area near Herrod and Bond streets in Elliott.
Police said the man, later identified as Lennex, had been shot in the head.
Online court documents indicate Powell remains in the Allegheny County Jail after being denied bail.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 3 in Pittsburgh Municipal Court.
