A Pittsburgh man is accused of shooting two men after an argument late last month outside a Strip District bar.
Jaquan Steadman, 24, faces charges including two counts each of attempted homicide and reckless endangerment and four counts of aggravated assault, online court records show.
Pittsburgh police said they responded to a ShotSpotter alert at Waterfront Place and 20th Street at 12:41 a.m. April 28. ShotSpotter had detected at least 21 gunshots in the area.
As police were investigating at the shooting scene, two shooting victims walked into Allegheny General Hospital with gunshot wounds to the foot, thigh and arm, according to a criminal complaint filed in the case.
Police said footage from a city camera on 21st Street showed a group of people, including Steadman, standing outside Lefty’s Bar just before the shooting happened.
Steadman got into an argument with one of the victims and then opened fire, the complaint said. Police said Steadman continued to fire at the victims as he chased them down 20th Street. He later told police he shot at the victims in self-defense.
Steadman is being held without bail in Allegheny County Jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 30. Online records do not list an attorney for Steadman.
