A water main break on McKnight Road in Ross Township has shut down both northbound lanes and heavily delayed southbound traffic Friday morning.

The northbound lanes of McKnight Road in Ross Township have reopened after a major water main break, according to Ross Township police.

The break happened around 5:30 a.m. on the corner of McKnight and Nelson Run Road.

With temperatures below freezing, officials were concerned the flooded road could turn icy.

They closed the northbound lanes, while traffic on the southbound lanes faced heavy delays.

Officials shut off the water and sent a salt truck to the scene around 6:30 a.m., according to police.

The road reopened just after 7 a.m.
