The Pittsburgh region will get a taste of summer this week, but spring will be back by the weekend.

Air flowing from the southwest will bring temperatures in the 80s for Wednesday, followed by ones in the upper-70s on Thursday and mid-70s on Friday, according to Tom Green, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Moon.

Cloudy skies with off-and-on rain are expected, with the potential for heavier rain Wednesday.

Normal highs for this time of year run in the mid-60s.

The region is squarely in springtime, though Green said some projections show that we could be in for a slightly warmer and wetter May.

Stay vigilant with your garden: Nighttime lows are expected to be in the 40s this week, Green said.

Looking ahead to Sunday’s Pittsburgh Marathon, runners should be prepared for a 20% to 30% chance of rain.

Temperatures are expected to be in the low-50s around 7 a.m., warming up to the mid-60s by noon.
