Police are investigating a drive-by shooting in Carrick that caused a chain reaction crash that sent a vehicle into the side of a house on Thursday May 9, 2019.

A chain-reaction crash that sent a vehicle into the side of a Carrick house Thursday was spurred by a drive-by shooting, Pittsburgh police say.

The shooting was reported just after 5:50 p.m. in the 100 block of East Meyers Street.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired. When they arrived on scene, they found a man who told them that an older model gold Dodge minivan drove up beside his vehicle while he was in the driver’s seat and started shooting at him, public safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz said.

The man told police that he hit the accelerator to get away, striking another vehicle and sending the other vehicle into the side of a house, Cruz said. The man wasn’t injured.

Police are investigating.
