Coraopolis police have identified two men who were arrested in connection with gunfire near the police station early Tuesday morning.
A third man, who has not been identified, has contacted the department and is expected to turn himself in Wednesday, police said.
Nathan John Fishbourne, 29 and Brandon Michael Youngworth, 25, both of Coraopolis, are charged with prohibited use of an offensive weapon, recklessly endangering another person, criminal conspiracy, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
Coraopolis police officers said they heard gunshots as they were leaving their station around 3:15 a.m., coming from the nearby Montour Industrial Park.
After calling in backup from neighboring departments, they moved in around sunrise and apprehended two men on the industrial park property, according to police.
They also seized a 12-gauge shotgun.
There were multiple .40 caliber shell casings found on the scene, but police did not find a corresponding weapon.
Police believe that weapon was in possession of a third man who left the scene before officers arrived. When that man turns himself in he will be expected to turn over the gun, police said.
It’s still unclear why the men were shooting, police said. They shot across the Ohio River, in the direction of the Robert Morris University Island Sports Center, on Neville Island.
Fishbourne and Youngworth are both out of jail on $10,000 cash bail each. They are expected to appear for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Leonard J. Hromyak July 16.
