The Pittsburgh RV Show rolls into the David L. Lawrence Convention Center
There are plush beds, relaxing couches, big screen televisions, high-efficiency kitchen appliances, spacious bathrooms and of course Wi-Fi, in the newest recreational vehicles on the market.
Some even have electric fireplaces.
They’re on display at the annual Pittsburgh RV Show, which opens Saturday and runs through Jan. 19 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Downtown.
“These RVs have everything,” said Rob Young, show producer. “When you make an RV purchase, you have to experience it in person. You have to sit on the furniture and see how big the space inside is. The two biggest things people always ask about are the bathrooms and the beds.”
Choices range from a basic place to sleep to vehicles that can accommodate 8 to 10 people or more and are 40 feet long, Young said.
Visitors will find lightweight trailers, travel trailers, fifth-wheel trailers, toy haulers, Class A, B and C motor homes, diesel pushers and park models.
Prices start at just under $10,000.
Young said customers include everyone from people who want a vehicle for vacations to those who may live in them full-time. Some workers use them if they are on a job site for an extended period of time.
The Pittsburgh RV Show is one of the biggest indoor RV shows in the country, Young said. He has been running it since 2007 and attending longer because his family owned a dealership in Irwin.
It takes five days to set up. He said they’ve been selling out the floor spaces since 2012. There are dealers who want more space and others who want to be part of the show for the first time, he said. There are 14 dealers so it’s the best way to comparison shop.
The show encompasses nine acres of space featuring recreational vehicles as well as products relating to the industry. Items include everything from folding camping trailers to high-end motor homes. The show started in 1968.

“When you come and see it, you can feel what the space is like,” Young said. “You wouldn’t buy a house without walking inside it, would you?”
Lee E. Boss, of Slippery Rock, is an RV detail specialist for Hufnagel & Majors from Harmony. The company has over 40 vehicles at the show.
“It is exciting to see all of the campers because they are beautiful,” Boss said. “The people who come here are interested in buying. It’s always fun to go camping and you can really have fun in these RVs because they are so comfortable and have everything you need.”
Tickets are $12.
