SWAT team responds to reported Knoxville armed robbery
A SWAT team surrounded a home in Pittsburgh’s Knoxville neighborhood for more than an hour Thursday before moving in and finding it empty, according to the city public safety department.
Police responded to a call of an armed robbery at the Moore Avenue home. When they arrived around 2 p.m., police said they were met outside by a man who told them he had been robbed by multiple men, one of whom was wielding a gun resembling an assault rifle.
That’s when police called in the SWAT team, which surrounded the house and called several times for anyone inside to come out.
After more than an hour they moved in to search the house, finding nothing.
Police are investigating.
