The Allegheny County Fugitive Task Force arrested a man charged with shooting two teenagers in Pittsburgh’s Carrick neighborhood, according to the Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety.
Cody Smith, 23, of Pittsburgh is charged with two counts each of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, robbery and recklessly endangering another person.
Smith allegedly shot two teenagers on Westmont Street on Thursday afternoon. One was shot in the neck, the other in the shoulder. Both were taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Pittsburgh police issued an arrest warrant for Smith on Saturday.
He was apprehended Tuesday on Broadway Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Beechview neighborhood, according police.
He is being held without bail at Allegheny County Jail.
A preliminary hearing in Pittsburgh Municipal Court has been scheduled for Nov. 27.
Another man, Desmond Michael Jones, 20, is charged with robbery and conspiracy as well as and a third suspect who hasn’t been identified yet, according to police. The teens told police that Smith, Jones and the third man followed them in the 2000 block of Dellrose Street in Carrick and told them to empty their pockets.
One of the teens identified Smith as the shooter from a photo lineup, police said. Jones was found sleeping on a couch at Smith’s mother’s home in Carrick as police were looking for Smith, according to a criminal complaint.
