A Strip District butcher shop announced Tuesday it is temporarily closing after an employee tested positive for covid-19.
Strip District Meats, at 2123 Penn Ave., made the announcement on its Facebook page.
“Despite our strong efforts to avoid it, an employee of ours has unfortunately tested positive for covid-19,” the business said in its post. “Even though the majority of our staff is symptomless, we have made the decision to close the store, effective immediately, until further notice.”
Strip District Meats said it will be using the time to sanitize the store, safely store products, and give its team time to evaluate their health and status.
Strip District Meats is family owned and operated for more than 65 years that boasts of having the “largest exotic meat selection in Pittsburgh, according to its Facebook page.
Raymond and Gloria Turkas started the business, originally Farmer’s Choice Poultry, in 1952. Gloria Turkas died in May.
