Road closures for Pittsburgh Marathon, May 3-5
More than 40,000 athletes will take to the streets of Pittsburgh May 3-5 for a weekend of marathon-related festivities, with road closures starting at 12 p.m. Friday, May 3 and lasting through the weekend.
Here are a few areas to avoid if you plan on traveling throughout the city:
- Road closures on Boulevard of the Allies between Wood Street and Stanwix Street will begin at 12 p.m. Friday, May 3. That section of Boulevard of the Allies will remain closed through Sunday, May 5.
- Areas in the North Side and Downtown will be closed for the 5K race and Kids Marathon Saturday, May 4 starting at 7:15 a.m. Roads are expected to reopen around noon.
- Downtown road closures for the marathon and half marathon races will start 1:30 a.m. Sunday, May 5 and continue throughout the city until around 2:30 p.m.
Race organizers advise those who live along the race route to consider parking their cars outside the area on race day, May 5, as certain parts of the city will be completely closed off to traffic.
Roads will reopen as they’re cleared by city officials. Estimated opening and closing times reflect time allotted for setup and cleanup of the course.
