Residents who live in Upper Lawrenceville no longer need to boil their water before using it, the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority said Friday.

A precautionary flush and boil water advisory had been in effect since Wednesday after a water main broke on McCandless Avenue.

The advisory was issued as people were preparing for Thanksgiving and continued until Friday morning. Two rounds of testing revealed no evidence of contamination, PWSA said in a release.

Those who haven’t been using their water during the advisory should run their taps for at least a minute before using it for cooking or drinking to remove any stagnant water from their pipes, PWSA said.

The advisory impacted 900 PWSA customers in the western section of Upper Lawrenceville.
