Duquesne Light restores power in eastern Pittsburgh neighborhoods
Duquesne Light crews have gotten a handle on power outages that were plaguing customers in three Pittsburgh neighborhoods Thursday morning, according to a company spokeswoman.
The outages came at the same time the region saw colder temperatures than recent days, along with swift wind and some snow.
Outages were reported in East Liberty, Highland Park and Morningside. Duquesne Light spokeswoman Niki Campbell said the outages were caused by an overhead wire that came down.
The original outage started at about 5 a.m. and affected about 800 customers, she said.
There were nearly 1,000 customers in those areas without power around 5:30 a.m. The number of customers affected fluctuated up and down throughout the morning.
Campbell said crews at one point had gotten the power back on, only to have it go out for hundreds again.
Power was finally restored to all customers shortly after 9 a.m., Campbell said.
