Police: Crafton Heights man charged in 2 recent robberies
A Crafton Heights man was arrested Tuesday on robbery charges stemming from two business robberies, according to Pittsburgh public safety spokesman Chris Togneri.
Deven Green, 20, is accused of an Oct. 30 robbery at Rite Aid in the 800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue on the city’s North Side and a Nov. 4 robbery at Family Dollar in the 1200 block of Chartiers Avenue in Crafton Heights.
In both cases, Green asked a clerk for change and when the cash registers were open reached over the counter and took cash, according to the complaints.
In the Rite Aid robbery, $241 was taken and $34 was taken at Family Dollar, according to the criminal complaint against Green.
He used his mother’s car in both cases, according to the complaint, and the clerks supplied police with the license plate number that police used to identify Green, according to the complaint.
His mother identified him as the person in a still shot taken from surveillance video from the Rite Aid robbery, according to the complaint.
Green is charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of receiving stolen property.
Togneri wouldn’t say whether Green is suspected of other recent robberies in and around Pittsburgh. Someone robbed the Rite Aid pharmacy in the 1800 block of Morningside Avenue on the same night as the North Side Rite Aid. A gas station along Route 8 in Shaler was robbed Nov. 8.
